Join Tia Curtis as she takes you through everything you need to know about free-motion quilting on the domestic sewing machine. The class will cover quilt marking, basting your quilt, machine quilting using the walking foot, free-motion quilting using a free-motion quilting foot (darning foot), ruler work using a ruler foot, and we will finish the class with some fun feather designs.

The price of the class includes a quilt top, back, and batting as well as basting pins, a quilt marking pen, and a catered lunch.

Supplies to bring with you:

  • Sewing machine in good working order that you are familiar with. Please make sure you know how to lower your feed dogs when that time comes. If you are not sure how everything works, please also bring the instruction manual.

  • Bring your sewing machine foot pedal and power cord as well. Sewing machine feet (bring a walking foot, free motion quilting foot, and a ruler foot if you would like to try ruler work).

  • Thread to quilt your sample piece. Free-Motion Quilting gloves (Tia will have some extras for purchase for $8 if you don't already have some.

  • Small scissors to clip threads. Size 80 machine quilting needles.

  • A small, quarter-inch thick quilting ruler, if you wish to try Ruler work (Tia will have several different styles on hand for you to borrow during the class, and some of her rulers available for purchase if desired).

  • A curious attitude.
